Steve Hedges, CJF

Steve is a  graduate of and now partner and instructor of Midwest Horseshoeing School. Upon graduation, Steve entered into an intense therapeutic apprenticeship under Dr. Thomas Monfort DVM and Steve Sermersheim, CJF, AWCF.  He built a very successful multi-farrier business throughout central Illinois. Steve has received his CJF (Certified Journeyman Farrier) with the American Farrier’s Association. From there his plans are to gain his TE (Therapeutic Endorsement).

The continued effort to better yourself through certifications and continued education is something Steve strongly believes in and impresses this self drive into his students.

Corrective and Therapeutic shoeing has become a passion for Steve and he looks forward to not only his continued learning but passing on this craft to future farriers.

Steve is a 20+ year veteran and active member of the Illinois Air National Guard in Springfield, Illinois.

Congratulations  Steve Hedges, CJF
recipient of the
2012 & 2013
American Farrier’s Association
Outstanding Educator Award!

In 2010, Steve took the reigns at MHS and focused his attention on providing quality instruction to enthusiastic students who have a serious interest in horseshoeing. Throughout the course of study Steve stresses quality rather than quantity which is enhanced through the individualized instruction provided each of his students.

In 2011 Steve Hedges was awarded the Rising Shoeing Star Award at the International Hoof Care Summit 2011. Steve has been awarded the 2012 and 2013 Outstanding Educator Award from the American Farrier’s Association.

To be a competent professional farrier one must possess knowledge, skill, enthusiasm for the work, and patience. Steve Hedges possesses all of these traits and enjoys passing them on to his students.
