Entrance Requirements Prospective students must be at least 17 years of age and in good physical health. No previous experience with horses is necessary. Class size is limited to 14 students per session.
School Calendar Classes are held quarterly, starting in January, April and September of each year. Specific session dates are listed on the application. Sessions run a full 12 weeks, convening Monday through Friday from 8:00 am. to 4:00 pm. with lunch from 12:00 to 1:00. All classes meet daily except Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, and Thanksgiving.
Housing Furnished rooming houses with kitchen facilities are available for the twelve-week sessions at a cost. The housing fees are on the application and payable when you report to class. However, to hold a room, students must send a $50.00 Security Deposit when sending the application. This deposit will then be held as a damage deposit, and will be refunded at the end of the session provided the house and contents are not damaged and are thoroughly cleaned when the premises are vacated. Students will want to bring a pillow, blankets, towels, cooking utensils, and any other personal belongings needed during the 12 week session.
Facility Midwest Horseshoeing School contains a comfortable classroom for lectures, a modern shop area, and a large shoeing area. Hand tools, a workbench, a forge, and anvil will be assigned to each student for personal use throughout the term of the course.
Textbook Midwest Horseshoeing School requires students of the 4, 6 and 12 week course to furnish or purchase the textbook, The Principles of Horseshoeing (P3), the textbook is available for purchase at the school for $150.00.
