TWELVE WEEK ADVANCED FARRIER SESSION

This session is recommended for students who are wanting to become professional farriers. It continues on from the skills taught in the six week session expanding into learning more corrective and pathological shoeing. Students are taught the use of and proper application of toe weights, sliding plates, side weights, rocker toes, roll toes, scotch bottom, swedge shoes, and aluminum shoes. Students will also learn arc welding and oxyacetylene welding with the use of drill tech and borium as well as hoof building and hoof repair, and will also learn some tool making. Many different breeds of horses are shod by the students during the Twelve week Session.

Students are responsible for all assignments and homework. All tools and text will be furnished for students.
Total number of hours in course: 420 hrs.

Session Summary

· Hours in session: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

· Upon successful completion of the Twelve Week Session students will receive a diploma.
