Midwest Horseshoeing School

Roy W. Evans, Jr. Owner and Instructor

About Roy Evans Jr.

Roy taught himself cold-shoeing in 1962. Because he realized the need for more knowledge, forging skills and corrective shoeing technique, he attended Midwest Horseshoeing School. After becoming licensed by the State of Illinois in 1968, he became a professional horseshoer. Since then, he has worked at various race tracks, and privately, shoeing all types of horses. In 1972 he purchased MHS and focused his attention on providing quality instruction to enthusiastic students who have a serious interest in horseshoeing. Throughout the course of study Roy stresses quality rather than quantity which is enhanced through the individualized instruction provided each of his students.

To be a competent professional horseshoer one must possess knowledge, skill, enthusiasm for the work, and patience. Roy Evans possesses all of these traits.
